What's On At Tokyo Game Show 2019

There are only a few days left until Tokyo Game Show 2019 and Japan’s biggest game expo is looking to blow the top off the gaming industry with groundbreaking exhibitions, news, and swag. Let’s take a look at what to expect at TGS 2019.

All Eyes On PlayStation

Upcoming PlayStation titles are under the spotlight despite Sony planning on being a no-show to TGS as they were in 2018. Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII remake, Spike Chunsoft’s Cyberpunk 2077, and EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order are just a few of the major PlayStation titles the gaming community is looking forward to seeing. The biggest hype no doubt will center around Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding as the gaming community has only recently begun to see more from Hideo Kojima’s first major title since leaving Konami. The developer has announced on Twitter that over an hour of gameplay will be shown at TGS 2019.

The Best Of The Best Go Head-To-Head

What game exhibition is complete without gamers exhibiting their skills in head-to-head tournaments to determine who is the best at their craft? TGS will hold its third-ever esports competition in 2019. Everything from first-person shooters to fighting games will be showcased. Not only that, but adults and children alike can compete, not online on console titles, but smartphone titles as well. Dragon Quest Rivals, a mobile card game that pits players against each other in the Dragon Quest universe, will make its first appearance at TGS 2019. SEGA Games is even throwing its own title into the esports area with its cute Puyo Puyo series. Even DEAD OR ALIVE 6 will hold its qualifying round for a chance to move on to the championships at TGS’s eSports X stage. Of course, no esports tournament will be complete without the inclusion of Capcom’s Street Fighter. Thousands of players will go head-to-head in the Street Fighter competition at TGS 2019, but only 8 will move on to the finals. You definitely don’t want to miss the best of the best going head-to-head at Tokyo Game Show 2019.

Cosplay Collection Night

What gaming event will be complete without a bit of cosplay? Cure World Cosplay will hold a cosplay event on one of the days that it is open to the public: September 14th (Saturday). The Cosplay Collection Night event will have over 200 popular cosplayers from around the world. Those planning on cosplaying will need to make sure they read event notes provided by TGS regarding costume rules, props, and event times.

It’s not too late to attend one of the biggest video game exhibitions of the year. Visit their official website at Tokyo Game Show 2019. From major game release information to esports tournaments and cosplay shows, TGS 2019 looks to be the destination for everyone in the video game community.
