Supanova once again delivers the best of the nerdy world with a range of cosplay events, talented guests, a vast array of geeky merchandise and so much more. Read on to learn some of the highlights of the 2019 Melbourne Supanova!
Strange things are afoot at Supanova 2019
In the past Supanova has consistently managed to attract some of the most recognisable faces, voices and artists in the world, and 2019 is shaping up to be no different. With the third season of Stranger Things looming, Millie Bobby Brown – who plays the enigmatic Eleven – is making a very timely appearance at Melbourne’s Supanova. Big names alongside Millie Bobbie Brown include comedy favourite Jon Heder and Stefan Kapicic, the mortal form of Deadpool 2’s Colossus. Joining them for Q&As will be actors from the likes of Riverdale, The Flash and The Expanse, and so much more – check out the full guest list on Supanova’s website.
With the 40th anniversary of Mad Max looming, Supanova also features cast members from the original film and the recent Fury Road. Max Rockatansky’s right hand man Goose (Steve Bisley) is making an appearance alongside Hugh Keays-Byrne, who played both Immortan Joe in Mad Max: Fury Road and Toecutter in Mad Max. Joining them will be fellow cast members Vince Gil, Dale Bensch and Paul Johnstone to reinforce memories of Australia’s dusty dystopian highways.
A whole new world of fun!
Being Australia’s largest producer of pop culture live events for fans of pop culture, Supanova is guaranteed to have the ideal merch for your geeky tastes. Whether you’re interested in movies, TV shows, toys, collectables, gaming, artists, tech, apps, or wrestling, the exhibitors at Supanova 2019 will have an unmatched selection of merchandise available for you to take home and show off to your friends.
Big sponsors such as Nintendo, Madman, Film Ink and Popcultcha will have impressive stalls offering up a huge range of their super-geeky products. Even if you’re not wanting to buy something, the knowledgeable reps are always up for a chat.
Cosplay at the 2019 Melbourne Supanova perfectly demonstrates why so many spend the year keenly anticipating the Con. Competitions, photobooths, panels and workshops are available for budding cosplayers both new and old, amateur and expert, as well as international cosplay star Kamui who will deliver a Q&A and pose for studio portraits. After spending countless hours crafting a costume, there’s no better way to immortalise your hard work than with the available cosplay photo booth – just remember to strike a pose!
Alongside the very entertaining Saturday Cosplay Competition, one of the most exciting cosplay events at the 2019 Supanova is a new national level cosplay competition. Supanova Cosplay Odyssey is offering participants $15,000 worth of prizes – including a trip to Atlanta, Georgia for Dragon Con 2019 – making it a competition very much worth watching.
